摘要

Abstract

A new mulberry variety Chuan sang 7431 of high-quality and hight-yield was breed through individual plant selection among a mutant population from hybrid seeds of CangXi 49×6031 treated with colchicine and 60Co-γ radiation. New Mulberry varieties regional test and village production trials in Sichuan province showed that this new variety had the characteristics of fast growing, large and thick leaves, short internodes, high yield and quality, and stable hereditary characters etc. The average annual yield was 33034. 25 kg/hm2 , 20. 26% higher than the check variety Husang 32. The silkworm rearing results were as follows: cocoon yield per 10 000 larvae was 19. 56 kg; cocoon shell weight per 10 000 larvae was 4. 61 kg; and cocoon output per 50 kg mulberry leaves was 3. 75 kg. They were respectively 10.37%, 10.43% and 8.32% higher than Husang 32. Moreover, the leaves hardened later in autumn. The new variety is suitable for growing in plain places, hills, especially in such easily droughty areas in Sichuan.
