摘要
Abstract
In the present study of hydraulic features and simulation analysis of the Three Gorges reservoir ( TGR) , we find that the reservoir will form a backwater region of 700km long and that its storage capacity will take strongly dynamic features. Its pool surface is not horizontal as regular reservoirs, and the time variation of its storage volume does not depend on the water level of the dam front. Computation error of water discharge from the reservoir during a flood event by the static storage method could be up to 50% . The study also reveals that the water level in front of the dam varies more rapidly than the average pool level, and hence it can be easily controlled by means of regulations. This is a valuable feature for flood control and hydropower operations.关键词
