Development of the Career Commitment Questionnaire for Junior Military Officers

Abstract
Objective: To develop a Career Commitment Questionnaire for Junior Military Officers (CCQJMO) and assess its reliability and validity. Methods: A five-dimension model of career commitment for junior military officers was constructed. On its basis, the CCQJMO was developed. Then, CCQJMO was administered to 829 junior military officers, 80 of whom were re-tested with CCQJMO at an interval of 10 days. Meanwhile all the samples were evaluated with the Demission Tendency Questionnaire. Factor analysis and Pearson's correlations analysis were used to examine the reliability and validity of CCQJMO. Results: The CCQJMO had good validity (Cronbach a from 0.651 to 0.873, re-test reliability from 0.720 to 0.912). Correlations between total score and factor scores ranged from 0.439 to 0.830(P<0.001). The 4-di-mention model (D1: affective commitment, D2: costing commitment, D3: opportunity commitment, D4: normative commitment) was fitted best among five theoretical models. Except for the costing commitment, all correlations between the scores of CCQJMO and Demission Tendency Questionnaire were significant. Conclusion: The CCQJMO has good psychometric properties and may be used for occupational management, psychological training and selection of junior military officers.关键词
