Analysis of negative emotions in family members of depression patients with modified electric convulsive therapy and observation on effect of mental intervention

Abstract
Objective To understand the reasons of negative emotions caused by modified electric convulsive therapy (MECT) in the family members of depression patients and observe the effect of mental intervention. Methods 35 family members of depression patients with MECT were assessed before and after treatment and mental intervention by application of Hamilton Depression Scale (HAMD) and Hamilton Anxiety Scale (HAMA). Results HAMA and HAMD scores before treatment and mental intervention in female family members were significantly higher than male family members. There were significant differences of HAMD and MAMA scores in all family members between pre- treatment and post - treatment. Conclusions It is helpful and necessary to implement targeted mental intervention for family members of depression patients according to the reasons of negative emotions caused by MECT.关键词
