Abstract
Objective To compare the value of two kinds of neurological function rating systems, Garcia and Bederson, in the evaluation of focal cerebral ischemia reperfusion model in rats. Methods Sixteen rats were induced to establish the focal cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury model with the suture method. Two kinds of rating systems were employed to evaluate neurological functions of rats at 24 h after ischemia reperfusion. The brain infarct volume percentage( BIVP ) was assessed after 2% TTC staining following the last neurological evaluation. The correlations between neurological function scores and BIVP were analyzed by SPSS 18. 0. Results Fifteen survived after focal cerebral ischemia reperfusion. Garcia score was negatively correlated with BIVP ( r = -0. 930,P ＜0. 001 ), while Bederson score was positively correlated with BIVP ( r =0. 794 ,P ＜0. 001 ). Conclusion Both Garcia and Bederson neurological fuc-tion rating systems can be used to evaluate the focal cerebral ischemia reperfusion model in rats. Garcia scoring system may be superior to Bederson.关键词
