Expression and clinical significance of DcR3 in cervical cancer

Abstract
Objective To investigate the relationship of death decoy receptor 3 (DcR3) expression with the pathogenesis and development of cervical cancer so as to provide a new theoretical clue for diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer. Methods Serum concentrations of DcR3 were measured by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) in healthy women, patients with cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN) and patients with cervical cancer, one week before and after surgery. The immunohistochemical streptavidin-peroxidase method (SP) was employed to detect the expression of DcR3 in cervical cancer, CIN and normal tissues. Results ELISA showed that serum concentrations of DcR3 were significantly higher in cervical cancer than in the two control groups (P< 0.05). Concentrations of DcR3 increased gradually in healthy women, CIN and cervical cancer groups. One week after operation, serum concentrations of DcR3 decreased significantly in the corresponding cervical cancer groups compared with the level before operation (P<0.05). Immunohistochemistry showed the positive expression of DcR3 was 72. 5%, 45% and 6.7% in cervical cancer, CIN and normal tissues, respectively (P<0.05). The expression of DcR3 in serum and tissues was found to be positively correlated with clinicopathologic parameters of cervical cancer (P<0.05). The serum concentration had a positive correlation with DcR3 expression in cervical cancer tissues (P<0. 05). Conclusion The overexpressed DcR3 in cervical cancer may contribute to the pathogenesis and development of the cancer. Serological monitoring of DcR3 protein may be useful for screening, diagnosis and treatment of cervical cancer.关键词
