Abstract

In order to further,study dynamic characteristics of tower-line system, and to complete the influence rule of related parameters affecting iced conductors and towers, we simulated and calculated typical lines by applying a dynamic program of three degrees of freedom multiple span combination simulating actual lines. Through the control variable method, the span combination law for the unbalanced tension of the tower-line system was obtained, and effect of the existing phase-to-phase spacers' installation strategy on the conductors of the adjacent span was discussed. Several conclusions can be drawn according to the simulation results: when wind deviation happens, the unbalanced tension increases faster and faster with the span increasing; when ice-shedding happens, the unbalanced tension increases with the span increasing, but the changes in unbalanced tension of shedding span and un-shedding span are different; when galloping happens, the unbalanced tension increases with the span increasing, but the waveforms of unbalanced tension between galloped span and ungalloped span are different. Moreover, it is concluded that applying the existing phase-to-phase spacers' installation strategy, the phase-to-phase spacer installation has little effect on the mechanics of its neighboring span, but it reduces the galloping amplitude while barely increasing the mechanical burden of tower-line systems.
