Abstract

For the fault detection of printed circuit board with FIFO (First In First Out) chips, a test method based on boundary scan technique, which makes FIFO write and read by writing Macro, is introduced. The principle of testing FIFO with boundary scan technique is given. The method can detect the fault of FIFO chip by designing an adapter board, using the testing tool of boundary scan ScanWorks, setting up boundary scan chain, writing Macro test code, and by using JTAG port to control indirectly. Diagram of the hardware is drawled and the main points of designing the adapter board is sketched. The circuit connection diagram of FIFO and software flow diagram are also given. In addition, the completeness of FIFO test is analyzed. At the end, the FIFO is tested and verified.
