Abstract

The supported nickel-based catalysts for hydrogenation of benzene to cyclohexane were prepared by incipient wet impregnation method and characterized by XRD, TPR and BET. The effects of the supports, γ-A1203 and TiO2, and promoters, La, Ce, Mo and Cu, on catalytic activity of the catalysts were investigated in an integral fixed-bed reactor at different temperatures. The results showed that the activity of Ni/γ-Al203 was higher than that of Ni/TiO2, and all four promoters could improve the activity of the catalysts, and La gave the best activity and selectivity. Under the reaction conditions of 2.0MPa, 200℃, Ni-La/γ-A1203 (w(Ni)=10%, w(La)=l%) catalyst loading of 16.5 g, hydrogen flow rate of 0.03L/min and benzene flow rate of 30mL/min, the conversion of benzene and the selectivity to cyclohexane were 99.4% and 94.2%, respectively. The characterized results indicated that La improved the dispersion of NiO on the surface of the support and enhanced the interaction between NiO and the support.
