Comparison of Dissolubility of the Active Ingredients in Ligusticum wallichii and Rhizoma cyperi with Different Extraction Approaches

Abstract
Objective To compare different extractioin methods for the dissolution of the ligustilide and ferulic acid in Ligusticum wallichii and a-cyperone in Rhizoma cyperi. Methods An HPLC method was established for the determination of ligustilide, ferulic acid and a-cyperone. The content of these index components were extracted via three methods, including alcohol followed by ether, alcohol percolation, and water boiling. Results The total active constituents from the two Chinese medicines had the highest yield from petroleum ether extraction followed by 75% ethanol. Conclusion The combination of division and remerging extraction approach improves the dissolution and extraction rate of active ingredients as well as reduces the loss of unstable components.关键词
