Abstract

The larvae of Chrysopa fbrmosa(Brauer)were reared on an artificial diet for laboratory rearing from the second instar, compared with age 1 to 2 of Dysmicoccus Neobrevipes as the natural diet (control). Full-fat powder of housefly larva, yeast powder, pork liver powder and the defatted powder of housefly larva was used as the main composition respectively and beef powder, egg, honey and other components were added to formulate the artificial diet in this trial. Second instar larvae on the all four diets developed to adult stages. However, the diets with the defatted powder of housefly larva was better than those with full-fat powder, yeast powder and pork liver in terms of larval survival, larval development period, pupal weight, and adult eclosion rate. On this diet, the larval development period was 9~14 days, the larval survival rate was 76.7%, and the adult eclosion rate was 66.7%. The optimal composition of the ingredients based on ridge analysis in SAS software was: defatted powder of housefly larva 6.0 g, beef powder 4.0 g, pork liver 1.6 g, chicken egg yolk 1.6 g, honey 1.3 g.
