Bioinformatics Analysis of Dihydroflavonol 4-Reductase Gene from Pomegranate and Other Ornamental Plants

Abstract

The nucleic acid sequences and amino acid sequences of dihydroflavonol 4 - reductase gene (DFR) from eight species such as Punica granatum L. cv. 'Honghua' , Punka granatum L. cv. ' Fenhua' , Curcuma alismatifolia, Paeonia lactiflora, Saussurea medusa, Dahlia pinnata, Pericallis cruenta and Cymbidi-um were analyzed by bioinformatics methods. Several parameters, including sequences composition, physico-chemical properties, hydrophobicity or hydrophilicity, topological structure of transmembrane regions were predicted. The results indicated that the DFR genes contained only one exon in all these ornamental plants and were abundant with the amino acids of Ala, Gly, Cys and Thr. Most of these DFR proteins were structural stable except those from Punica granatum L. cv. ' Honghua' and ' Fenhua'. All these DFR protein belonged to hydrophilic protein, with evident hydrophobic region, hydrophilic region and transmembrane region.
