Abstract

Arc fault is one of the important causes of electric fire. As the latest circuit protection technology, the arc fault circuit interrupter can effectively avoid fires caused by arc fault. We analyzed the characteristics of arc fault signal, put forward a kind of arc fault detection method and designed the hardware and software of the arc fault circuit interrupter. The current signal collected by a current transformer was fed into MCU after filtering. The MCU analyzed the signal using wavelet transform (Daubechies 4) to judge if there was arc fault and took responsible treatment. The test proved that the design was effective. The arc fault circuit interrupter has the advantage of high resolution and integrates an electric leakage protection function. It is helpful for keeping the power supply system, the electric equipments and personal safety effectively.
