Abstract
Objective To evaluate the in vitro antimicrobial activity of cefcapene against clinical isolates. Methods A total of 559 strains were included in this study. Minimal inhibitory concentrations ( MIC) of antimicrobials were performed by the agar dilution method. Results Cefcapene had excellent antibacterial activity against both methicillin susceptive Staphylococcus and most Streptococcus spp. The MIC90 of cefcapene against methicillin susceptive S. aureus ( MSSA ) and S. epidermidis (MSSE) were 1 mg ? L -1 and 2 mg ? L-1. The MIC90 of cefcapene against penicillin susceptive S. pneumoniae (PSSP) was 1 mg ? L-1. The MIC90 of cefcapene against ESBLs negative Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoiae were 1 mg ? L -1 and 2 mg ? L-1 , respectively. Cefcapene had good antibacterial activity against both Haemophilus influenzae and Moraxella catarrhalis, the MIC of cefcapene against Haemophilus influenzae less than 0. 03 mg ? L -1. The factors including inoculation quantity, pH value of medium and percentage of serum had no effect on MIC values. Conclusion Cefcapene exhibits good activity against most clinical strains in this study. The antibacterial activity of cefcapene were similar with cefditoren, and better than cefpodoxime and cefixime. The results of in vitro activity agree with other studies.关键词
