Cultural Meaning of Scattered Geometric Motif on Silk Textiles during Qin and Han Dynasties
摘要
Abstract
Scattered geometric motif brocade during Qin and Han dynasties unearthed in Hubei and Hunan provinces has attracted the attention of many researchers with its mysterious pattern. On this basis, this paper studies the pattern composition of scattered geometric motif, compares similarities and differences of scattered geometric motif and geometric motif pattern in Shang and Zhou dynasties and ancient hieroglyph and further studies the relationship between scattered geometric motif pattern and ancient witch culture of the Kingdom of Chu and symbolic meanings of scattered geometric motif pattern with iconological method. The research considers that scattered geometric motif is the representative influenced by witch culture and its pattern change and scatter represent the symbolic meaning while having practical applicability. Technical improvement has created scattered geometric motif; meanwhile, scattered geometric motif has gradually developed into a culture and promoted further technological development.关键词
