摘要

Abstract

The growing concern of the safety of food additives and the increment cost of petroleum-based fumaric acid raised the interest of fermentation processes for fumaric acid production from renewable resources. The key problems for industrial production of fumaric acid were reviewed. Strategies for efficient microbial fumaric acid production, including strain improvement, process development and separation process were reviewed and discussed for the technological possibility and economic feasibility in industrial process.
