Abstract

[Objective] The aim was to provide a reference for popularization and application of a new japonica rice variety Wankennuo No. 1 in a large scale. [ Method] The breeding, traits, resistance to disease and stress, quality and yield performance of Wankennuo No. 1 was introduced, and discussed its suitable cultivation technology, such as timely sowing, transplanting, water and fertilizer strategy in field, comprehensive prevention and control to diseases and insect pests and weeds, and harvest method. [Result] Wankennuo No. 1 was a stable and normal japonica and glutinous rice variety, bred by Anhui Wanken Breeding Co. , LTD after three generation selection using Wuyunuo No. 16 mutants, and approved by Anhui crop variety approval committee in 2010. Wannuoken No. I has good comprehensive traits; its resistance to bacterial blight reaches MR(three grade) , to rice blast MR(three grade) , to banded sclerotial blight 5 grade, to false smut 3 grade, its plant height is short and stem toughness is good , so its resistance to lodging is strong; its comprehensive evaluation of quality reaches ministry of agricultural issued standards of Grade-Ⅱ high-quality glutinous rice; its yield is 9 000 -9 750 kg/hm2, and high yield field reaches 10 500 kg/hm . [Conclusion] Wankennuo No. 1 has some good characteristics of early mature, high yield, good quality, and strong resistance, suitable for planting in Anhui rice area.
