Abstract
Objective To carry out a Meta-analysis on the published data, in order to evaluate the effectiveness of duodenum-preserving pancreatic head resection (DPPHR) versus pancreatoduodenectomy (PD) for surgical treatment of chronic pancreatitis. Methods PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Library and China Biological Medicine Disk from Jan. 1980 to Sep. 2012 were searched for the clinical trials of comparing DPPHR versus PD, including cohort and randomized controlled trials. Two authors independently extracted the data from these studies. A total of 9 clinical trials met the inclusion criteria. The data were analyzed using the RevMan 5.1 software. Results Comparing DPPHR versus PD, postoperative mortality (P=0.56) and pain relief (P=0.53) showed no significant difference, postoperative morbidity (P<0.01), hospital stay (P<0.01), and quality of life (P<0.01) were significantly improved in the DPPHR group. Conclusion The presented findings suggest superiority of DPPHR versus PD in the treatment of chronic pancreatitis with regard to several postoperative outcome parameters.关键词
