Service Life Prediction of Concrete Pipe Pile Due to Chloride Ion Corrosion by Modeling

Abstract
Chloride-induced reinforcing steel corrosion is one of the most predominant deterioration mechanisms for concrete pipe piles. Based on the chloride-induced reinforcing steel corrosion mechanism, the deterioration process of corrosion affected concrete pipe piles can be divided into three phases, i.e., a diffusion phase, a crack initiation phase and crack propagation phase. The three deterioration phases were analyzed, respectively. A theoretical model for service life prediction of concrete pipe piles due to chloride ion corrosion was proposed. The service life prediction of crack initiation phase was also carried out by the model. The results show that predictive results are similar to the experiment data.关键词
