Growth and Optical Properties of Cr3+ Doped Al2O3-YAG Eutectic

Abstract
Cr3 + doped YAG-Al2O3 eutectic was grown by the optical floating zone method.The as-grown eutectic was composed of only YAG and Al2O3 phases, and SEM image showed that the lamellar space was about 10 jim when the growth speed is 7 mm/h.The absorption, excitation and luminescence spectra were investigated.Sharp phosphorescence designated as R-lines were observed while excitated at 402 nm and 5S6 nm, and came to the largest intensity at 0.4 wt% concentration.By comparing the sepctra of the eutectic and single crystal, a conclusion could be deduced that the Cr3+ in the Al2O3 site played a major role in the optical properties of eutectic.关键词
