Abstract

Silver nanowires were synthesized via microwave-assisted polyol method in the presence of ethylene glycol(EG) as reductant and solvent, polyvinyl pyrrolidone(PVP) as protecting agent, and CuCl2 as control agent. Keeping other conditions unchanged, the influence of the power of microwave and reaction time on the Ag nanowires was investigated. The morphology, crystalline phase, and optical property of the samples were characterized by SEM, XRD,and UV-Vis. The results show that silver nanowires with high purity were quickly formed with the addition of a certain amount of CuCl2 under the constant microwave power and reaction time. The average diameter of silver nanowires was about 100 nm and the crystal structure of silver nanowires was face cubic(fcc). From UV-Vis absorption spectra of silver nanowires, it is found that the absorption peaks appeared at about 380 nm and 350 nm. In addition, through the analysis of reaction process, the formation mechanism of silver nanowires was discussed.
