Research Progress on Removal of Heavy Metals in Waste Water with Plant Materials

摘要

Abstract

Heavy metal ions are very stable and hard to be removed from the natural environment, which are greatly harmful for human health by drinking water or food chain. How to reduce these heavy metallic pollutants from industrial production and city daily life is getting one of the most emmergent en-viromental protection issues in our country. A large amount of researches show that some plant materials can eliminate heavy metals from waste water effectively. In this paper, the types, constituents and pre -treatment methods of the main plant materials used to absorb heavy metals are described, five factors affecting the absorbtion process are summarized and the prospect of such biosorption on heavy metals are pointed out.
