Feature Recognition of Injection Mold Cooling System for CAD/CAE Integration

Abstract
A Graph—based feature recognition method for injection mold cooling system was proposed to help realizing the integration of CAD/CAE system. According to the structural characteristics of cooling system,a group of recognition rules were defined. Face —edge graphs were generated from mold plates containing cooling system. Sub—graphs of cooling system were then recognized from the face—edge graphs by the predefined rules. The numerical data of cooling system could be extracted from sub —graphs and optimized for CAE analysis afterwards. Based on the method,an injection mold cooling system design module for CAD/CAE integration was developed on UG platform. A case study shows that the proposed method can realize automatic reconstruction of cooling system between CAD and CAE, which effectively avoids remodeling and accuracy loss caused by data conversion between different systems.关键词
