Abstract

Grapevine (Vitis spp.) is one of the most economically important fruit trees in our country, and is affected by many viral diseases due to its vegetable reproduction and having a long-term lifecycle. Viruses that greatly reduce the quality and quantity of grape fruits include Grapevine fanleqf virus (GFLV), viruses inducing rugose wood (RW) complex, Grapevine leqfroll associated viruses (GLRaVs), and Grapevine fleck virus (GFKV). The major measure to control grapevine virus diseases is the use of healthy propagating material. On basis of summarization of the principles for virus elimination techniques of meristem-tip culture, thermotherapy, chemotherapy electrotherapy, somatic embryogenesis and cryopreservation, this paper presents an overview of the application of various methods on virus elimination of grapevines and analyzes the relationship of virus elimination techniques and the types of virus. Here, we give a brief review about recent research progresses mentioned above, and hope that it will provide the help for the future research in the field of elimination of grapevine viruses.
