Survey of Community Nurses' Pre-hospital Emergency Competency of Cardiac Arrest

Abstract
Objective To investigate the condition of community nurses' knowledge and skill of eardiopulmonary resuscitation ( CPR ) so as to provide basis to improve community nurses' emergency competency for pre - hospital cardiac arrest.Methods 67 community nurses from 15 communities were selected by cluster sampling.The condition of community nurses' knowledge and skill of CPR that orients emergency competency were investigated through self - designed questionnaire and skill test.Results Among the 67 nurses, 38 (57% ) were up to standard and 29 (43% ) were not up to standard in the test of knowledge of CPR, while 18 ( 27% ) were up to standard and 49 (73% )were not up to standard in the test of CPR skill.Nurses with different age and different education degree showed statistically significant difference in the mastering of CPR knowledge ( P < 0.05 ), but nurses with different titles showed no such difference ( P > 0.05 ) .Nurses with different age and different education degree showed no statistically significant difference in CPR skill ( P > 0.05 ), but nurses with different titles showed such difference ( P <0.05 ).Conclusion Community nurses' emergency competency of pre - hospital cardiac arrest is not satisfactory and need to be improved urgently.关键词
