Abstract
Sediment-hosted stratiform Cu deposits,one of the most important types of copper deposits all over the world,are always prospecting targets for mining companies.The Neoproterozoic Central African Copper-Cobalt bclt is one of the greatest sediment-hosted stratiform Cu-Co provinces in the world.The deposits are stratabound and mostly restricted to the Roan Group within the Lower Roan Ore Shale (LOS).The Chambishi Cu mine is a successful project for Chinese companies operated in Zambia.This work presents comprehensive studies of the geological features,ore-forming background,diagenetic and mineralization processes in the Chambishi Southeast ore district.The results reveal that the host rocks and orebodies are strictly controlled by the paleo-sedimentary environment and the paleo-topography of basement,the orebodies were formed in an epeiric shallow sea evaporitic environment and has experienced a major marine transgression-regression process.A full understanding of the geologic features and distribution of the sediment-hosted stratiform Cu deposits in Zambia is helpful for exploration and mining investments.The Copperbelt Province and North-West Province have great potential for prospecting copper and cobalt deposits in the future.关键词
