Abstract
Objective To explore the safety and feasibility of surgical treatment for patients with esophageal or gastric cardia cancer aged over 90.Methods The clinical data were retrospectively analyzed on 8 super-elderly patients (aged 90 to 98,an average of 91.25 ± 2.76,5 males and 3 females) who had undergone surgical treatment during the period of March 2001 to December 2012.4 of the patients had gastric cardia cancer and the remaining 4 had esophageal cancer.Results Surgery was successfully performed in 7 patients while exploratory thoracotomy was performed in one,with a rate of surgical incision of 87.5％.The length of hospital stay was (24.25 ± 7.09) days.5 patients developed postoperative complications but no patient was dead during hospitalization.The curative rate was 87.5％ (7/8).Conclusions For super-elderly patients with esophageal or gastric cardia cancer aged over 90,surgical treatment is safe and feasible under the conditions of better cardiopulmonary function and positive perioperative care.关键词
