Mineral Composition and Microstructure of Portland Cement Clinker with Steel Slag in the Raw Meal

摘要

Abstract

Laboratory study and industrial production showed that steel slag could be used as iron corrective material to prepare cement clinker.For exploring the mechanism of the effect of steel slag on the performance of cement clinker,based on the comparative laboratory study on the bumability of raw mixes and strength of clinkers which were respectively prepared with iron powder and steel slag,the mineral composition and microstructure of these clinkers were examined by X-ray diffraction and optical microcopy.The results indicate that the mineral type and composition of clinker is not changed with steel slag.Furthermore,alite is well formed and develops a larger size in clinker with steel slag than that with iron powders.Minerals in clinker with steel slag are also quite uniformly distributed.The lower viscosity of steel slag than iron powder combined with the crystal seed action of C3 S mineral existed in steel slag promote the formation and development of clinker minerals.The crystal form of C3S in clinker with steel slag is (M1 + M3).
