Abstract

Preparation of the CTMAB-bentonite wastewater adsorbent based on the modification of cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTMAB) with response surface methodology (RSM) was investigated.Based on the modification of CTMAB,the optimal preparation parameters of CTMAB-bentonite determined by response surface methodology (RSM) technology were found to be as follows:CTMAB dosage of 19.5%,reaction temperature of 70.5 ℃,reaction time of 1.8 h and pH of 6.7,and the quadratic experimental fitting model (R2 =0.9757) was also obtained.The experimental values (92.6%) of removal by CTMAB-bentonite obtained under the predicted optimal conditions by confirmation experiments closely agreed with the results (94%) obtained from RSM and hence validated the findings of response surface optimization model.The method provides a basis for the synthesis of modified bentonite adsorbent and its use in wastewater treatment and environmental restoration.
