Abstract
Objective:To explore the application of euclidean distance matrix analysis (EDMA) in the assessment of craniofacial reconstruction.Methods:3D craniofacial reconstruction equipment invented by Lan Yuwen was used for craniofacial reconstruction of 120 (female 60,male 60) adults whose native place in Liaoning province.Afterwards,we compared the reconstructed face with the real face by using EDMA method.Results:EDMA results showed that there were 121(71%) FDM ratios in 0.95-1.05,20(12%) ratios less than 0.95,30 (17%) ratios greater than 1.05 for the female reconstruction group.For the male reconstruction group,there were 119(70%) FDM ratios in 0.95-1.05,20(12%) ratios less than 0.95,32 (18%) ratios greater than 1.05.The ratios of FDM not equal to 0.95-1.05 were distributed mainly in the area of five sense organs.Further analysis showed that landmarks in the eye area had the largest contribution for the difference.Conclusion:Our study showed that there were differences between the reconstructed face and the real face using this reconstruction method,despite this,the reconstruction results were close to the real face in general.EDMA is an effective platform for the craniofacial reconstruction assessment.Besides,it can be used as an accurate tool for testing where have made big errors.关键词
