Abstract
Objective To evaluate the effect of probe implantation in treatment for complex congenital nasolacriral duct obstruction.Methods Total 276 cases (295 eyes) of congenital complex nasolacrimal duct obstruction were treated with duct probe implantation within the first 12 months of birth.Cure rate were studied for different age groups and different pathologic types.Results The overall cure rate was 87.7％ (259 eyes) with single treatment.The cure rate was 95％ in infants received the treatment before 3 months of age,87.5％ in infants received the treatment between 3 months and 6 months,and 74.2％ in infants received the treatment between 6 months and 12 months.The difference in cure rate among those groups was significant (P ＜ 0.05).The cure rate was higher in patients with membranous obsstrction than in patients with bony obstruction (P ＜0.05).Conclusion Probe implantation is an effective treatment for complex congenital nasolacrimal duct obstruction.Patients should be treated early to achieve a higher cure rate.关键词
