Abstract
Objective To investigate the causes and nursing measures of recurrent peritonitis in elderly patients with end stage renal failure and treated with continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD).Methods Fourteen old uremic patients who had been treated with CAPD in the Department of Nephrology of Huadong hospital and had recurrent peritonitis in the past 3 years were enrolled in this study.We tried to find the causes of recurrent peritonitis for these patients by interview,checking the recording books,and follow up by telephone.Nursing measures were suggested based on the data mentioned above.Results The most common causes of recurrent peritonitis in this patients were old age,low immunity,poor knowledge of preventing infection,malnutrition,lack of strong consciousness of aseptic processing,and disqualification of the hands.Conclusions Periodic training of the manipulative skill of dialysis procedure for patients and their close relatives was very important for the prevention of peritonitis as well as improvement of life quality in the elderly patients.关键词
