Serum adiponectin and leptin levels in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease

Abstract
Objective To study the relationship of serum adiponectin and leptin (Lp)levels in patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).Methods Adiponectin,Lp,cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),high density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C),low density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C),insulin,homeostasis model assessment index for insulin resistance(HOMA-IR),body mass index(BMI)were determined in 42 health persons and 56patients with NAFLD.Serum adiponectin and Lp levels were measured by radioimmunoassay.Results The serum adiponectin levels in NAFLD group was significantly lower than in control group(6.1±1.9mg/L vs.12.4±3.2,P＜0.01);The HDL-C levels was significantly lower in NAFLD group than in controls(1.0±0.3mmol/L vs.1.2±0.3 mmol/L,P＜0.05),whereas Lp was significantly higher in NAFLD group than in controls (9.2±2.1μg/L vs.5.3±1.4 μg/L,P＜0.01);In addition,the serum TC,LDL-C,insulin,and HOMA-IR and BMI in patients with NAFLD were higher than in control group (P＜0.01 or P＜0.05,respectively);Adiponectin was in negative relationship with Lp,HOMA-IR and BMI (r=-0.552,-0.497,-0.513,respectively,P＜0.01).Conclusion The adiponectin concentration is significant lower and the Lp concentration is significant high in patients with NAFLD.关键词
