Antibacterial finishing of extracts from clove upon cotton knitted fabrics
摘要
Abstract
The extracts from traditional Chinese medicine clove being as the main antibacterial components,cotton knitted fabrics were treated with clove water extracts and clove water extracts-chitosan,and the antibacterial property and wearable property of fabrics before and after treatment were discussed.The results showed that the untreated fabrics had no antibacterial effect,and the treated cotton fabrics with two finishing methods had good antibacterial activity against S.aureus and E.coli so that inhibitory rate reached above 97.2％ and 74.6％,respectively.The inhibitory rate against S.aureus of fabrics remained above 93％ after washing cycles.The bacteriostatic effect and washability of fabrics were significant.Meanwhile,the average area density of the finished fabrics was slightly increased,and the breaking strength was enhanced in warp,but weakened in weft.The elongation at break was slightly decreased.Therefore,finishing process influenced the wearable property of fabrics.关键词
