摘要

Abstract

Objective To investigate the possible protective effect of curcumin on the experimental diabetic nephropathy(DN) rats and its possible mechanism.Methods The diabetic model was induced by a single intraperitoneal injection of streptozotocin(60 mg · kg-1).After modeling success,curcumin(200 mg · kg-1)was given ig to treatment group,continuous 8 weeks,and equal volume of 1% sodium carboxymethyl cellulose was given ig to normal group and model group.After the last administration,to collect 24 h urine for detecting 24 h urinary albumin excretion rate (UAER).To detect blood glucose (BG),triglyceride (TG),cholesterol(TC),creatinine clearance (Ccr),blood urea nitrogen (BUN) and so on ; to detect the activity of catalase (CAT),glutathione peroxidase (GSH-Px),superoxide dismutase (SOD) and the level of malondialdehyde (MDA).HE staining to observe pathological changes.Results Compared to model group,curcumin could improve the general situation of rats,reduce significantly the BG,TG,TC,BUN,UAER and Ccr(P < 0.01),also curcumin could increase significantly activity of CAT,SOD,and GSH-Px (P <0.01),and reduce the content of MDA (P <0.01).Curcumin could significantly improve the histopathological changes of rats.Conclusion Curcumin has a protective effect on the kidney of diabetic rats,it's mechanism may be related to inhibiting the oxidative stress and enhancing the body's antioxidant capacity.
