Abstract
Objective To investigate the stigma situation among the family members of the shut rural patients with schizophrenia, and to explore the related factors of their stigma. Methods The family members of 84 schizophrenic patients, whose condition met the diagnosis criteria of ICD - 10 and who were unlocked, treated and discharged from hospitals from November 2006 to March 2012 in the whole province, were recruited as the subjects. They were investigated assessed by using internalized Stigma Scale for Mental Illness ( SSMI ) . Results Totally the family members of 82 schizophrenic patients were investigated. The investigation showed that 87. 8% of the family members had stigma. The patients were classified into two groups according to weather they were shut or not at the present. The family members of patients who were shut again had significantly higher stigma than those family members of patients who were not shut ( P <0. 05 ). The stigma perception level was related to factors such as the relationship of family members with patients and weather the patient was at present shut or not. Conclusion The family members of rural schizophrenic patients unlocked, treated and discharged from hospitals after unlocked and had a remedy had stigma universally, especially those family members of patients who were shut again. Patients that shut again and their parents increased the stigma level of the family members.关键词
