Abstract

Modified nano-fluorocarbon emulsion was prepared by blending 3-methacry-oyloxypropyltrimethoxysilane modified composite nano-TiO2 and fluorocarbon copolymer emulsion.Used as a major film former,the modified nano-fluorocarbon emulsion was applied to making modified nano-fluorocarbon coatings by adding pigments and fillings.The conventional performance,antibacterial activity and self-cleaning capacity of the modified nano-fluorocarbon coatings were investigated and compared with those of the fluorocarbon coatings and nano-fluorocarbon coatings.The results indicated that the performances of all three emulsions met the standard of synthetic resin latex for inner wall coatings,whereas the modified nano-fluorocarbon emulsion had the highest solid content and the lowest film forming temperature.The antibacterial rates of the modified nano-fluorocarbon coatings to both Staphylococcus and Escherichia coli reached 99%,and their antibacterial durabilities to Staphylococcus and Escherichia coli were 97% and 96%,respectively.The modified nano-fluorocarbon coating also has low water absorption,strong hydrophobicity and good self-cleaning capacity.
