Abstract

In the solution of grounding parameters of a certain large-scale grounding grids by traditional boundary element method (BEM),the required memory space for this task far exceeds the memory space of the common computer,so that this problem cannot be solved.It is proposed to solve grounding parameters of grounding grid by fast multipole BEM,and quadtree memory structure is utilized to replace traditional storage schema based on coefficient matrix,thus the memory capacity for the calculation is reduced and the computational efficiency is improved.Taking the solution of grounding parameters of grounding grid with relatively small scale by traditional BEM and fast multipole BEM respectively as example,the computational results comparison shows that the maximum error of grounding resistance calculated by fast multipole BEM and that by CDEGS software are less than 2%,so it shows that the proposed method is effective.Applying the proposed method to engineering case,which cannot be solved by both CDEGS software and traditional BEM,the obtained related grounding parameters can preliminarily meet the engineering requirement.
