Abstract
Objective:To explore the particular inner world of the college students with anxiety symptoms by the sandplay therapy,and try to summarize the initial sandplay characteristics related to the anxiety symptoms.Methods:Thirty-six students with the Symptom Checklist 90 (SCL-90) anxiety scores of 3 or higher were selected as the anxiety symptoms group,and other 36 students with each SCL-90 factor score lower than 2 were as the control group.All the 72 students participated in the sandplay experiment.Their sandplay works were encoded by using the sandplay code tables.Result:On the use of toys,compared with the control group,the anxiety symptoms group had lower usage frequency of real people (19.4% vs.80.6%),men (41.7% vs.77.8%),women (38.9 % vs.75 %),flowers (33.3 % vs.63.9 %),grass (33.3 % vs.80.6%),trees (27.8 % vs.72.2 %),houses (38.9% vs.72.2%),commercial buildings (5.6% vs.27.8%),food and fruits (11.1% vs.41.7%),lakes (30.6% vs.63.9%),rivers (11.1% vs.47.2 %) and bridges (30.6% vs.61.1%).On the operation process,the anxiety symptoms group were showed more un-touch attitude (61.1% vs.22.2%),imbalance layout (52.8% vs.2.8%),single perspective image display (47.2% vs.11.1%),monotonous color (36.1% vs.13.9%),unsatisfied with the works (41.7% vs.2.8%),lacked of the self-image (50% vs.8.3%) and more appeared in the abstract scene (33.3% vs.2.8%).Multiple regression analysis on the theme showed that the neglect and threat had a medium correlation with the anxiety symptoms (β =34.76,31.55; Ps < 0.05).Conclusion:The result indicates that the initial sandplay in college students with anxiety symptoms would show significant characteristics on the use of toys,the operation process and the theme.Sandplay may be a valuable tool for the assessment and treatment of anxiety symptoms in clinical psychology.关键词
