Growth of Graphene Nanostructures on Cu Foils

Abstract
Single layer graphene nanostructures have been prepared on Cu foils by low pressure chemical vapor deposition (LPCVD),and were then characterized by scanning electron microscope (SEM),atomic force microscope (AFM) and Raman microscopy.CVD-grown graphene exhibits various morphologies and shapes by tuning growth conditions.We studied the effect of the CH4 ∶ H2ratio,the total growth pressure and the orientation of Cu substrate on graphene shapes for the samples with the growth temperature of 1000 ℃ and the growth time of 2 min.It is revealed that the balance between carbon diffusion/deposition and hydrogen etching affects the graphene shapes greatly,in which graphene preferred to form hexagons when hydrogen etching predominated over C diffusion/deposition,while tended to form flowers with conditions in reverse.Additionally,no distinct relationship is found between the graphene shape and the underneath grain orientation of Cu.关键词
