Abstract
Objective To apply the SBAR communication technique to bedside shift handoff in SICU.Methods In the period from April to September,2012,the SBAR communication technique and the SICU handoff checklist were applied to standardize the handoff procedure in SICU.Results Before the application,55 faults were observed in the handoffs of 321 mechanic ventilation patients; while after the application,only 19 faults were observed in the handoffs of 317 patients.There was a sharp decrease in the number of faults observed (x2 =19.305,P ＜ 0.01).The average time of handoff was shortened by nearly 4 min.Nurses were more satisfied with their work (P ＜ 0.01).Conclusion The application of SBAR communication technique standardized the patient handoff procedure in SICU,improved nurses' work efficiency,communication ability and satisfaction.关键词
