Abstract
Objective:To compare pregnancy and neonatal outcomes between in vitro fertilization-embryo transfer (IVF-ET) and intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI),so as to evaluate the safety of intracytoplasmic sperm injection.Methods:A retrospective study was carried out to analyze early abortion rate,late abortion rate,premature birth rate,gender ratio,low birth weight rate and malformation rate in patients received either IVF-ET (n=452) or ICSI (n=135) from January 2010 to December 2010.IVF-ET and ICSI groups were divided to two subgroups respectively according to the singletons or twins.Results:In the single fetal group,there were no significant differences in early abortion rate (15.86％ vs.19.35％),late abortion rate (1.38％ vs.2.15％),premature birth rate (6.89％ vs.5.38％) and the low birth weight rate (5.90％ vs.4.11％) between IVF and ICSI groups.The early abortion rate in ICSI group had increase trend.In the twin group,there were no significant differences in early abortion rate (4.93％％ vs.2.78％),late abortion rate (4.23％ vs.2.78％),premature birth rate (33.10％ vs.33.33％) and the low birth weight rate (43.60％ vs.34.85％) between IVF and ICSI groups.There were also no significant differences between two groups in gestational age,birth weight,Apgar scores,malformation rate and sex ratio.Conclusions:ICSI is an effective and safe assisted reproductive method,but whether it will increase early abortion rate and neonatal birth defects remains further follow-up investigation.关键词
