The effects of psychological intervention on adolescent patients with cleft lip and palate in orthodontic treatment

Abstract
Objective To investigate the effects of psychological intervention on adolescent patients with cleft lip and palate in orthodontic treatment.Methods Adolescent patients with cleft lip and palate were divided into two groups:control group and experimental group.The control group only underwent orthodontic treatment,but the experimental group received extra psychological intervention during orthodontic treatment.In the mean while,both groups of patients received SCL-90 tests before and after orthodontic treatments to evaluate the effects of psychological intervention on adolescent patients with cleft lip and palate.Results There was no significant diference in these parameters between the experimental and the control group before treatment,but the scores of SCL-90 in the experimental group showed a significant statistical difference (P＜O.05) when compared with the control group after treatment.Conclusion The psychological intervention has positively impact on the outcome of orthodontic treatment for adolescent patients with cleft lip and palate.关键词
