Correlation Study of Cyclin D1 Protein Expression and Haryngeal Cancer Radiotherapy Prognosis

Abstract
Objective To investigate the prognostic value of the Cyclin D1 expression in patients whit nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC).Methods A total of 61 cases of NPC patients who underwent biopsy before radiotherapy between January 2000 and January 2003 were retrospectively studied.Immunohistochemistry SP method was adopted to detect the expression of Cyclin D1 in NPC biopsy specimens.The relationship between the Cyclin D1 expression and survival was analyzed.Results The positive rate of Cyclin D1 were 57.4％.The Cyclin D1 expression was correlated with clinical stage (x2=7.425,P =0.024).The 1-year overall survival rate of the 61 patients is 98.1％,the 3-year overall survival rate is 59.3％ and the 5-year overall survival rate is 52.2％,the MST is 63.0 months.Patients with negative expression of Cyclin D1 had a significantly better survival than those with positive expression (x2=18.233,P =0.000).The age and Cyclin D1 expression were independent prognostic factors shown by Cox proportional hazard model(x2=4.533,16.192,P =0.033,0.000).Conclusion The Cyclin D1 expression was correlated with the prognosis in NPC patients.关键词
