Expressions of IL-27/IL-23 in deciduas in women with unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion

Abstract
Objective To assess the expression of IL-27 and IL-23 in deciduas in women with unexplained recurrent spontaneous abortion (URSA).Methods Deciduas were obtained from 15 women with URSA and 30 women following elective abortion during the early stages of pregnancy at Yantai Yuhuangding Hospital,Qingdao University Medical college between August 2010 and August 2011.Quantitative real-time RT-PCR and western blotting were used to estimate the expression of IL-27 and IL-23 in deciduas.Results The mRNA (0.09 ± 0.02 vs 0.38 ± 0.08,P ＜ 0.05) and protein (0.46 ±0.12 vs 0.89 ±0.19,P ＜ 0.05) expression of IL-27 were lower while IL-23 mRNA (0.26 ±0.09 vs 0.16 ±0.06,P ＜ 0.05) and protein (0.47 ± 0.08 vs 0.19 ± 0.05,P ＜ 0.05) were higher in deciduas of patients with URSA than control subjects.Conclusion The expression of IL-27 and IL-23 balance would be important in maintenance of pregnancy,the imbalanced expression of IL-27 and IL-23 may play a role in URSA.关键词
