Abstract

Based on the precipitation data of 12 meteorological stations in the eastern of Qinghai Province,the 6 indexes describing the extreme precipitation were pick up to analyze their trend,mutation,and spatial distribution,meanwhile the correlation coefficients between aridity,extreme precipitation events and sea surface temperature anomaly index(SSTA)were calculated,and the variation of droughts and floods and the impacts of ENSO events on droughts and floods were studied.The results showed that the extreme precipitation events had the remarkable regional difference that the northern areas was prone to flooding phenomenon and the southern region was prone to drought phenomenon; after the 1980s,drought and flooding events in the study area increased and were more frequent.There were good correlations between the aridity,precipitation value over 95% points,precipitation value over 25 mm index and the two month later SSTA index,the impacts of ENSO events on droughts and floods showed a “large-small-large” trend from south to north,and the Nino3 region sea surface temperature had a greater impact on the droughts and floods.
