Abstract
Objective To observe the application of percutaneous autogenous bone marrow injection grafting for management of 36 cases with delayed unionor nonunion of fractures.Methods In the period from 2001 to 2011,36 patients with delayed and non-union of long bones were selected for bone marrow injection.The procedures were gone through in the operative theatre in which the bone marrow were aspirated from the anterior or posterior iliac crest and injected into the fracture site under fluoroscopic control.The optimal injection interval of a dose of 5:20 mL was 34 weeks and the injection required 2-3 times per week.Results During a mean follow up of 9 months,32 of the 36 cases were healed with the technique of marrow injection.The time to clinical and roentgen graphic union was 6 to 11 months after injection (averaged 9 months).Four cases failed and chose other treatments.Generally,there was no infection or complications.Conclusion Bone marrow injection is as effective as past open autologous grafting but with considerably fewer disadvantages,and also it is a relatively simple and economic technique,especially for elderly and infirm patients with ununited bones or delayed bones.关键词
