Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the effect and toxicity of S-1 capsule for elderly patients with advanced gastric cancer.Methods:Forty-four elderly patients with advanced gastric cancer were randomly divided into 2 groups.The S-1 groups included 22 patients who were treated by S-180mg/m2/d,twice daily,for four weeks,with intermittent time of 2 weeks,6 weeks as one cycle.FOLFOX group included 22 patients who were treated by Oxaliplatin 100mg/m2 at day1,intravenously,CF 200mg/m2 from day 1 to day 5,intravenously,5-FU 500mg/m2 (12 hr-coutinous infusion) from day 1 to day 5.Three weeks as one cycle.The effect and toxicities in the two groups were evaluated after 2 cycles of chemotherapy.Results:In the S-1 group,one got complete remissions (CR),9 partial remissions(PR),8 stable diseases (SD),4 progressive diseases (PD),the total response rate was 45.5％.In the FOLFOX group,no complete CR,7 PR,8 SD,7 PD,the total response rate was 31.8％.The efficacy was not significantly different between these two groups(x2 =0.863,P =0.353).The disease control rate of the S-1 group and the FOLFOX group was 81.82％ and 68.18％,respectively.The difference was not statistically significant(x2 =1.091,P =0.296).The rates of gastrointestinal reactions and peripheral neurotoxicity of S-1 group were lower than that of the FOLFOX group (P ＜ 0.05).The incidence of Ⅲ-Ⅳ degree adverse reactions of S-1 group and FOLFOX group was 4.3％ and 27.3％ respectively with statistically significant difference(x2 =4.247,P =0.039).Conclusion:S-1 capsule is effective and tolerable in the treatment for elderly patients with advanced gastric cancer.关键词
