摘要

Abstract

Settling velocity of fine sediment was calculated by fitting Rouse' s formula for vertical profiles of suspended sediment concentration,using the field data of tidal current,sediment concentration and salinity for the strong flood and strong ebb in the Oujiang river estuary in the period from June 23rd to July 1st,2005.The bottom friction velocity was obtained from logarithmic velocity profiles fitted to the measured velocities at different times,and the influences of sediment concentration,salinity and friction velocity were considered.The results show that the settling velocity of suspended sediment in this estuary is proportional to the exponential powers of these three factors.A settling velocity formula was established and it was verified with the field data observed from July 12th to 20th,2002.
