COMPATIBILITY BETWEEN IMPORTED SCHISTOSOMA JAPONICUM AND ONCOMELANIA HUPENSIS FROM SCHISTOSOMIASIS TRANSMISSION-INTERRUPTED AREA

Abstract

In order to survey the compatibility between imported Schistosoma japonicum and Oncomelania hupensis from Schistosomiasis transmission-interrupted area,the snails were exposed to S.japonicum miracidia from schistosomiasis endemic areas of Anhui,Jiangxi and Jiangsu Provinces,the ratio of snail to miracidia was 1:20.The single snail were exposed to 5,10,20 and 40 miracidia,respectively.The results showed that the snails from Xiuzhou County of Zhejiang Province were more susceptible to the miracidia of S.japonicum from Anhui,Jiangxi,Jiangsu Provinces with the infection rate of 29.88%,26.35% and 18.18%,respectively.However,sanils from Wucheng County of Zhejiang Province showed lower infection rate of 1.69%,0.56% and 0.57%,respectively.The snails from Changxing,Changshan,Wucheng County of Zhejiang Province were exposed to the miracidia of S.japonicum from Anhui,Jiangxi,Jiangsu Provinces.The ratio of snail to miracidia was 1 ∶ 5.The snails were insusceptible except the snails from Changshan County of Zhejiang Province which were exposed to the miracidia from Jiangxi Province.In conclusion,the compatibility between snails from water-net areas of Schistosomiasis transmission-interrupted area and S.japonicum miracidia from lake regions of schistosomiasis transmission area was higher than snails from plain and mountainous regions of schistosomiasis transmission-interrupted area.
